when i am trying to create a new database in oracle 10 g in my local system when creating database error shows a numbe 146
no other error is showing
what must be the reason

I am using i have installed oracle 10g in my pc my version os is windows xp pro
i already have a database, now i am creating a new database through dbca command databse control assistant is opening
after naming and givinga all the parameters finllly when i craeate a database a message screen is coming withou error
its showing only the number 178 in the creadatabase configuration assistant info screen

i have 4.5 gb freespace in my drive

help me creating a new database

Had you a look to dbca log file?

Behind the screen with the number there is a screen giving you the log file, have a look at it.

It seems you didn't give a correct Oracle home.

i have installed oracle client and bitools in the e:\ drive

how to set the oracle_home default

You cannot create a database with Oracle client, you must have an Oracle server install.

I HAVE INSATALLED ORACLE 10G DATABSE INTHE C DRIVE
BEFORE INSTALLING 10G I ALREADY HAD INSATALLED CLIENT , FORMS 6I AND BI TOOL IN D DRIVE
MAY BE THAT IS HAVING A DEFAULT ORACLE HOME ,
I DONT UNDERSTAD THE LOG FILE ERROR because SAME ERROR IS SHOWING IN MY EXISTING DATABSE LOG FILE BUT IT WAS CREATED SUCCESSFULLY.

If you dont want to reply just ignore, i thought i was strange error if somebody faced the same they would give appropriate answer.
