SQLdeveloper Version 19.2.1.247
Oracle Database 19c Enterprise Edition Release 19.0.0.0.0 - Production Version 19.17.0.0.0
Oracle client oraclient19.dll

We had this database that we can connect to then when any query is run it hangs even a simple select sysdate from dual. However, when query is run on SQL*Plus connected to the same database it works fine. Any other tools also works fine but not to the SQLdeveloper.

Please advise. Thank you.

Upgrade? The last SQL Developer version is (currently) 22.2.1 (https://www.oracle.com/database/sqldeveloper/technologies/download/)

I don't know if you are accustomed to using SQL*Developer or not. So, I don't know if you are aware of the differences between that and SQL*Plus. So, this may sound like a dumb question, but did you click on the little green triangle near the upper left corner of the worksheet to run the query? It doesn't just run if you hit the enter key like in SQL*Plus.
